Raptype

In the Focus-Project raptype a Fused Deposition Modeling machine is developed to be used as a research platform at EDAC. It is able to print ABS and PLA parts faster than comparable devices. In order to accomplish this goal the printer head must move at high speed with sufficient precision. For this raptype makes use of the core kinematics technique (www.corexy.com), permitting high accelerations due to stationary motors. Thanks to the measurement of the printer head position, using very precise profiled guideways, feedback control is currently under development.
