Dr. Yu Zhang

Yu Zhang is a postdoctoral researcher at EDAC. She received her bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University in China and master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States. In 2017, she worked in the Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) team at Disney Research CHINA. She obtained her doctoral degree in May 2023 from ETH Zurich, with the thesis "Sustainable Discrete Structures: from Design to Construction". Her postdoctoral research focuses on Fabrication-Aware Design and Optimization for Discrete Architectural Assemblies. Yu's main interest includes rigorously exploring structural optimization and generative design.
